Abstract

France conducted its first fission weapon nuclear test in Re-ggane. On August 26, 1968, France successfully carried out the first thermonuclear explosion at the Pacific Experimental Center. The "Mirage IV" weapon system carrying a nuclear bomb was put into use in 1967; the surface-to-surface strategic ballistic missile (SSBS) weapon deployed on the Albion plateau in 1971
