Officials at some French nuclear plants find cracks
Abstract
The French Ministry of Industry approved EDF to load enriched uranium fuel into the Gravelin 1 reactor and the Tricastin 2 reactor. However, due to the discovery of a few millimeters of cracks in the steam generator tube sheets and pressure shell nozzles of the two stacks, the French Federation of Trade Unions and the Democratic Labor Association requested a re-examination of the cracked parts. In order to ease the pressure on these two organizations, the French power company decided to postpone the loading and recheck the two piles separately.
