Abstract

A Brief History of Nuclear Energy In 1938, Otto Hahn of Germany discovered the phenomenon of nuclear fission of uranium, which opened the prelude to the development of atomic energy technology. This "technology" was first used for military purposes, made into atomic bombs, and dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. In 1942, Professor Fermi of the University of Chicago successfully designed the world's first nuclear reactor CP-1. In 1954, the Soviet Union built the world's first nuclear power plant with a power of 5 megawatts. Then the United States developed the light water reaction
